Flying Malaysia Airlines

Those of you who know me will know that I love to fly. For me, a big part of the trip is the flight itself.

In booking this trip, I was going to fly Singapore Airlines - we were going to Singapore after all. But then due to a course their schedule just did not suit our needs. Malaysia Airlines was also cheaper. MH370 did not faze me, as I love to fly & won't let fear get in the way of doing what I love...

Soon after we booked MH17 happened. I booked my travel insurance that day. Not due to concern about something happening to our plane but concern that the airline may go under. It didn't. So I was glad to be able to support them...

We flew Business Class on all of our flights with Malaysia. I told you that a big part of the trip is the flight so I like to enjoy it.

Sydney - Kuala Lumpur

Heading to the Qantas Business Lounge...

We could see our tail from the lounge!!

Plenty of leg room....

Pre-departure juice...

When flying with Malaysia, you should eat all of the satay.... soo good

Chef-on-Call - special request meal (Malaysian curry)

Pre-arrival breakfast...

Malaysia Airlines Golden Satellite Lounge @KLIA

Heading to the domestic terminal - sooo many Malaysia planes

KL - Singapore

Hong Kong - KL

Chilling in the zen-like calm of the Cathay Pacific lounge prior to boarding...

Complete with ice cream!!

What are the chances of spotting a Qantas A380 tail dwarfing our tiny little Malaysian 737

Or this being the front page of the newspaper in my seat pocket....

More satay - with sparkling wine x

KL - Langkawi...

Chilling in the Golden Lounge Domestic...

Some airport shopping...

Breakfast? Don't mind if I do....

Swarm of police headed to duty....

Malaysia A380!!

KL - Sydney

Absolutely torrential rain when we boarded in KL - we were delayed 1.5 hours for take-off as were many other flights.... our bags were still wet from being loaded in KL I presume when we got home as it had actually soaked through the outer layer...

Brunch set-up - taken prior to pastry delivery ;)

Chef-on-call: pineapple waffles (my selection)

Filet Mignon - Mr TPS's selection (also chef-on-call)

Overnight stay at Sama Sama Hotel courtesy of Malaysia Airlines when their flight schedule changed, necessitating an overnight stay at KLIA...

Overall, I loved flying with Malaysia Airlines. Their staff were attentive & service was good. It was ironic to watch the safety video knowing that the passengers on MH370 & MH17 had done the same. But mainly I felt sad for the staff, who always had a smile on their face, who I'm sure are facing uncertainty with planned job cuts. We really only had a couple of empty flights... Hong Kong to Kuala Lumpur (but this was 1 of 6/7 that day) & to & from Langkawi (low season for tourists). Flights in & out of Australia were fairly full. I will never forget checking in at KL & seeing the MH staff member with a black ribbon on his suit with MH17 on it. They really do need our support x #staystrong #flyinghigh
